MOLLY's Sponsor Profile

UPDATE 08/22/2007:
MOLLY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Molly is a 7 year old Cock-A-Poo who has
recently had surgery to remove her rear leg - She was hit by
a car (who then took off) and saved by some good citizens who saw the horrific
incident. Upon initial examination it was clear that her leg was shattered
and broken with no chance for repair. Blood work also showed that
she was positive for valley fever...this poor sweet girl would not have had
a chance if it weren't for the family that picked her up and took her to
the vet.

Even after ALL of this Molly is one of the most grateful dogs we've had the pleasure of rescuing. She takes her
medication without issue, she let's the vet's poke and prod her, and she tries her best to get around by dragging her
entire body. We were hoping for her to begin using her other rear leg by now but there may be more extensive damage
than we originally thought. She won't bear weight on her rear leg so discussions of getting her a cart have been brought up.
Molly has the type of attitude that she would LOVE a cart and would function quite well! However, before a cart can be fitted to her,
her pelvis will have to heal. This healing process is very challenging as it's extremely difficult to keep her contained.
We have a follow up visit with the vet next week and will post an update as soon as we know more.
Molly has a long recovery ahead of her -- We still aren't sure if she will be able to use her remaining
hind leg and at the very least a cart can assist with her mobility.
UPDATE 06/05/2007:

UPDATE 06/05/2007: We were contacted
by the owners of Canine Physical Rehabilitation of the Southwest, LLC and offered a 'loaner
cart' for Molly to see how she would adapt to a new way of life. Well,
so far so good! As soon as we strapped her in
she took off! We swear Molly knows what we tell her and that we are doing
everything in our power to help her have a happy and pain free life
from now on. A HUGE 4-PAW salute to Jeff and Karen of Canine Physical
Rehabilitation of the Southwest, LLC, for without them Molly would not have
the opportunity
to 'test drive' a new way of life.
We are still collecting donations to assist with her previous medical bills as well as saving for the purchase of a permanent cart for Molly. A new cart
can cost anywhere from $300-$475. Thank you for taking time to read Molly's story and keep her in your prayers!
Your sponsorship will remain active until
Molly is adopted. All proceeds raised through donations are used to assist in paying
Molly's medical bills. There are no employees, no administration fees and no professional
fundraiser's to pay.
Remember
... All donations to Valley Cats and Dogs are tax-deductible!
