FAITH'S Sponsor Profile
Initial posting November 23, 2007
UPDATE 02/03/2008:
FAITH HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Faith a 2-3 yr old Golden Retriever Mix who gave birth to 11 puppies while in the
local pound (2 babies died) and all were scheduled to be killed the morning of November 20, 2007. Another rescue group
offered financial assistance if anyone was able to save her and her pups from being killed. We stepped up to take her and her pups!
Mama Faith required immediate medial attention (a huge thank
you to Animal Medical Surgical Center!) as she was in respiratory
distress, emaciated and too weak to care for her pups (the
pups were only 24 hours old when we saved her). Upon examination
it was determined that she had pneumonia and quite possibly
distemper and/or valley fever. Additionally, only one of her
nipples was producing milk so the pups needed to be removed
from her and bottle fed. It was quite the stressful situation
for one our volunteers who sat in his truck with NINE day-old
puppies having to figure out what he was supposed to do with
them and who would be kind enough to step up and offer to
bottle feed them. (a huge thank you to Apache Junction Animal
Hospital staff for their quick response and assistance with
bottle feeding).
Faith is so sick she needs to stay at the vet hospital to
get her stabilized. Her blood work came back NEGATIVE for
distemper (YAY!) and negative for Valley Fever. However, the
pneumonia has taken it's toll on her thin, weak body is requiring
an extensive hospital stay. She is improving daily and has
even recently growled at the doctor (which the doc says is
a good thing!).
As you can see her medical requirements are much more than we anticipated and we are desperately seeking donations to assist
with her bill. We also welcome donations of puppy milk replacement (9 puppies require more than you can imagine!). She is
a sweet girl being given a second chance...won't you help us by donating to her surgery fund today?

Yes! I'd like to sponsor Faith!

UPDATE 11/26/2007: Faith is recovering well and is off fluids as of today. She is breathing better and is much more alert than when
when she was first pulled from the pound. She wags her tail when her favorite technicians approach her and she's happy to get out of her isolation ward and go
for walks. She still has nasal discharge that needs to be cleaned at least 3 times a day. She continues to eat well and is still on antibiotics.
**NOTE: Unfortunately we lost the runt puppy over the weekend....His foster family named him Ash. Gods speed baby Ash.....
Thank you for taking time to read Faith's story and please keep her in your prayers!
UPDATE 12/09/2007: Faith's foster mom has positive news to report on this sweet mama
(a HUGE thank you to foster mom Stacy for stepping up and welcoming Faith in to her home!):
"Just want to give everyone an update on Faith. She is just the sweetest girl (as long as your not a man) she gets along fine with my little ones and found a new friend in Percy the pomeranian I kept for the weekend. Faith was very very playful with him. At first I think she thought she should be outside, so I just kept telling her she could come in the house and now she likes to sit on the couch with me and whomever else might be on the couch. She is such a lover and all she wants is for me to love on her and let her sit beside me. She has a good appetite and is eating well plus getting her treats. I see no sighs of kennel cough and she seems to be bouncing right back. She is housebroken (Yes yes yes). Only one more day of medication except for the cream for her dry nose."
Your sponsorship will remain active until
Faith is adopted. All proceeds raised through donations are used to assist in paying
Faith's medical bills. There are no employees, no administration fees and no professional
fundraiser's to pay.
Remember
... All donations to Valley Dogs are tax-deductible!
